ATTENTION: This boutique hotel is a dream you will never want to wake up from. The dream is Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort. I fell into this resort heaven via the most glamorous bachelorette party for my friend Emily, about 7 years ago, and I’ve been obsessed ever since – I finally had to share my obsession with you. It’s a gorgeous resort, and there’s a million reasons to go. Maybe a girlfriends weekend (facials! bars! pool!) or a romantic couples weekend (hikes! restaurants! couples massages!). Sanctuary offers guests “casitas” instead of standard hotel rooms, so you have your own little “house” on the side of Camelback mountain for ultimate privacy and space. You won’t feel like you’re at a hotel at all – you’ll just feel fancy. Rumor is J-Zay and Beyonce come here regularly along with a long list of other celebs, so I’m always on the lookout… Continue reading “Luxe Weekend Getaway: Sanctuary Camelback Mountain”
I’m starting a new section of my blog called “Tuesday Tips”. I hope to give you simple ways to glam up your life, make your beauty routine easier or elevate your style. For my debut post, I’m highlighting something that’s always close to my heart no matter my age: RIBBONS. Not only are they so versatile, ribbons of all fabrics and colors are cheap and easy to come by (any fabric store and even Target has ribbon). So you can get saturated velvets for fall and bright cottons for spring. If I’m at a craft store, I like to buy 1-2 yards (about $1) and then cut it at home. Cut the ends on a diagonal for more polish, or leave them straight and frayed for more edge. Bonus: Ribbons also make great headbands or chokers! Continue reading “Tuesday Tip: Ribbons”
As you may or may not have heard, I am constantly trying to be a french girl. You know, svelte no matter how many croissants I eat, generally unbothered and adorable, with effortless style. But sadly, I have to limit my pastries, no one has ever called me adorable, and it’s too cold right now for the striped tee, silk trousers, and beret I’m envisioning (you see it too, don’t you?). In the interim, I’m reading up on looks from fashion week and channeling une femme winter – and for me, nothing says effortlessly chic like all black. The ripped jeans keep it from looking too severe and give this outfit a little texture. I also LOVE this dusty rose COS coat for spring, but I think using it as a transition piece with black is totally working. Come back for the spring-styling in a few weeks. p.s. If you’ve never tried an Everlane cashmere sweater, let me tell you, they are a dream for a fraction of the price.
Stay french out there. Continue reading “All Black + Pop of Dusty Rose”
It makes me sad to see a gorgeous piece of jewelry lose it’s shine. I feel so strongly about sparkle, I travel with a “jewelry kit” and demand to clean my friends’ rings when we go on vacation. (Sunscreen is the worst offender for dulling shine.) The good news: anyone can get a pro-level clean at home in a few minutes! Stick with me.
I’m going to clean my engagement and wedding ring (platinum and diamonds), and my Dior Oui ring (white gold, aquamarine and diamonds). See how the stones are super cloudy and the bands are lackluster? This is totally normal and happens from regular wear – everything you touch, from makeup, to lotion, hairspray, and even food, takes a toll on the shine of your favorite things. Most of us don’t have time to get it professionally cleaned, but my jeweler taught me this at-home trick that works just as well. I try to do it every Sunday, the difference in before/after is so noticeable.
For the newly engaged: If you’re taking engagement or wedding photos, you MUST do this beforehand!
Note: I’ve used rings for this post, but it works for gold and silver necklaces, earrings and most natural gemstones. BUT I’ve never tried cleaning any costume jewelry, so attempt at your own risk! Continue reading “Make Your Bling SPARKLE (How to Clean Your Jewelry At Home)”
First piece of news: My insta has even more style, beauty, general antics, and pictures of my pomeranian. What’s not to love?! ❤️ If you’re in the neighborhood, check me out @thechampagnechic
If you’re in the Northeast U.S. right now you are probably getting buried under inches of snow. Stay safe and warm out there! I took the redeye to Chicago last night and it’s freezing here so I feel your pain (but no snow yet, whew). This cold weather inspired me to post about the pure joy that is finding a really warm, but also chic, coat. Like this patterned knit from H&M. And it’s on sale right now for only $50! A girl can’t be expected to settle down with just one foundation! I personally need a different formula based on season, event, temperature, day of the week… why limit yourself? It’s your FACE. If my skin is super dry, the last thing I want to do is shellac a heavy layer of makeup over it. And if it’s broken out, I need more coverage. Each foundation in my repertoire is a little bit different and has a different beauty perk. No matter your skin type, coverage preference, or whether you prefer matte or dewy, I’ve got you “covered” with my favorites, reviewed here.
Before we go on: Remember to get a winter foundation and a summer foundation. You don’t want a pale foundation covering your sun-kissed skin, and the reverse is true in the winter. Nobody likes a dark foundation line on your chin.
Best for “No Makeup” Look: Chanel // Offers light coverage, but even-toned, glowing skin (almost dewy if it’s weren’t matte). The formula is velvety and soft to the touch, and feels as light on your skin. A great option for those “I just look like this” days or those who prefer low maintenance makeup but still need some coverage. My go-to in summer. Hope everyone had an amazing weekend! It’s been so rainy in San Francisco so we did a lot of early spring cleaning the last few days: I was able to pull out two full bags of clothes to donate. Feel like I have more room in the closet for some new clothes… not like I need to shop any more every again. On Sunday we went on a walk through the Mission and I wore this navy midi from Vince with my favorite East Coast reppin’ tee. Continue reading “Sunday Strollin’: Pleated Midi Skirt + T-Shirt”
