I swear the older I get, the more likely I am to wake up with red, puffy eyes. I just LOOK at a glass of wine before bed and it’s over for me. If you suffer from the same affliction, here’s how to combat this very real, very important problem. First get some Visine – a whiter eye will make you look immediately more awake. (Eliminating dark circles is pointless, if your eyes are bloodshot.) Then, tackle your undereyes with one of the following: Continue reading “Tuesday Tip: Combat Red, Puffy Eyes”
Do you ever try to put makeup on in the morning but are thwarted by pieces of dry flaky skin no matter how much you moisturize? Uh, yeah, me neither… but if you DO (not us), the buck stops here. Time to bring out the big guns and get rid of that dry skin fast (picking at it with your fingernail is not the answer). I have two secrets:
1) Scotch Tape: Sounds like crazy talk, but a little piece will spot treat, and remove a piece of stubborn dry skin immediately. No irritation to your face.
2) Dr. Dennis Gross Daily Peel:- Best for when your whole face needs a pick me up. These little babies make your skin instantly smooth and flawless. Use all over your face to exfoliate and smooth in two steps. Tip: Cut each of the little pads (one each of the two steps) in half to double how long they last. Use one half, and put the other unused half back in the packet, fold the top, and seal with a binder clip to keep them fresh.
A girl can’t be expected to settle down with just one foundation! I personally need a different formula based on season, event, temperature, day of the week… why limit yourself? It’s your FACE. If my skin is super dry, the last thing I want to do is shellac a heavy layer of makeup over it. And if it’s broken out, I need more coverage. Each foundation in my repertoire is a little bit different and has a different beauty perk. No matter your skin type, coverage preference, or whether you prefer matte or dewy, I’ve got you “covered” with my favorites, reviewed here.
Before we go on: Remember to get a winter foundation and a summer foundation. You don’t want a pale foundation covering your sun-kissed skin, and the reverse is true in the winter. Nobody likes a dark foundation line on your chin.
Best for “No Makeup” Look: Chanel // Offers light coverage, but even-toned, glowing skin (almost dewy if it’s weren’t matte). The formula is velvety and soft to the touch, and feels as light on your skin. A great option for those “I just look like this” days or those who prefer low maintenance makeup but still need some coverage. My go-to in summer.
